Helping Sheboygan County Residents Live Their Best Lives
Elevate is honored to be the agency of choice to help Sheboygan County residents experiencing a mental health crisis. We work with Sheboygan County’s Health and Human Services and other community partners to offer a cost efficient, community based and trauma informed alternative for Sheboygan County residents that is effective at reducing mental health crises and saving money.
We begin at the time of the crises by offering two different ways to obtain help. First utilizes a mobile crisis response approach. Individuals can request a mental health professional come to them 24/7 to de-escalate the situation, assess the needs of the individual and connect them with resources. These visits occur wherever the person is located—at their home, school, place of work or elsewhere in the community.
The second point of entry is in partnership with the City of Sheboygan Police Department in response to calls that come in through 9-1-1 or the non-emergency line. Elevate staff will respond to these calls in partnership with a Sheboygan Police officer. Once all safety and legal concerns are resolved, Elevate staff will work with the individual to assess their needs and help them access services.
We work to address the immediate needs using an approach that puts the individual in crisis at the forefront without creating more trauma for them. We are able to connect them and their family with resources to address the underlying causes of the crises and prevent further problems. Sometimes, it might be necessary for them to receive services at Elevate’s Residential Crisis Stabilization facility, Calm Harbor.
Elevate has been operating Calm Harbor in Sheboygan since November, 2019 and in Washington County since 2005. It provides a home-like alternative to a hospital and at a cost of approximately $175/day, it saves taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
